Springfield
Springfield was acquired in 2021 as an operating dairy. Initial development focused on expanding the farm’s capabilities, including the addition of 25 hectares of irrigation, an upgrade of the dairy from 25 to a 30-a-side system, and improvements to laneways, fencing, and pastures.
The farm has a 300-hectare milking platform, consisting of 125 hectares of irrigated land (via centre pivot and lateral systems) and 175 hectares of dryland pasture. Additionally, Springfield leases a 200-hectare dryland runoff block at Gunns Plains.
The farm milked 500 cows in its first year under BWB ownership and has since grown to a herd of 755 cows.
